Can't ever lose them...

Ten years ago (wow!), I took a study abroad trip to Spain during college. I made some amazing friends on this trip and I fell in love with the Mediterranean (it is my favorite shade of blue next to KU blue). Spain is known for its cultured pearls that look so perfect. Majorca pearls are so beautiful and I have adored them ever since. I bought myself a pair that cost probably $25. At the time, it was a major investment. Most of you know that I have worn them ever since. They go with everything!



I have lost them a million times and I always find them. Tonight, I thought I lost one of them for good at Super Target (where else would I spend my Friday nights??). I got home and felt the back on the the back of my ear, as they are basically molded into my skin like a good pair of sandals. No pearl!! I actually didn't freak out. I just figured it was time to go back to Spain...



Well, believe it or not, I called the friendly staff at Super Target (I love this store!) and asked them to look in the aisle where I remember Wesley grabbing my face/hair to plant a wet kiss and there it was!!! Amazing...I can't lose them. Guess we'll have to postpone that trip to Spain. So, tell me about a sentimental piece of jewelry you own (not your wedding ring...that is a gimme).

1st Birthday Party!

We had a big party for Wesley's birthday out at a large urban park near our home. Wes loves his dragonfly mobile and Scott's Pappy has always called him "Frog", so we had a frog and dragonfly theme. Wes got a little dragonfly smash cake and had blue icing in his diaper for a few days! We had fun, but Wes was pretty serious most of the time with his trademark "straight line" smile.

FINALLY!!!

After a year of being a mom, I am finally getting my life together enough to do a blog! I hope to keep close with our friends and family far away and to share our joy of raising Wesley in pictures and stories. I will start by catching you up on our great adventures of the summer:

1. Visit from new cousin Samuel and older cousin Miriam in June.

Our backyard is just big enough for a baby pool.

2. Visit from Grandpa and Grandma Hoerman for my birthday (yeah right-you see why they came!)

3. Trip to KC/Kansas in June.

Highlights:

-staying with Erin & Bryan

-seeing my Aunt Brynn and Grandma Hammett

-watching Uncle Brett pitch a game

-my Great Grandma Ruth reading me my favorite book, Brown Bear

-my first chocolate popsicle with my Great Grandpa and Grandma Hoerman

-meeting my cousin Rylan (we are going to be buds real soon!)

4. Vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks with our Abraham Family

Highlights:

- meeting new cousin Blair!!!

-birthday party with cousin Bode (he is my idol!)

-getting spoiled by Uncle Brett and Aunt Christine (reaching for them here!)

-chillin' with Memaw and Daddy

5. Talkin' up the Horrmann brauts at the Springfield Cardinals game (they are so good!)
